Silk Fusion

Silk Fusion, also known as Silk Paper, is an exciting new creative process.
This unique method bonds silk fibres into a lustrous kind of "felt" which can be gossamer and transparent or thick and opaque as leather. Because the fibres are unspun, silk's rich lustre and texture are captured.
Silk fusion is a perfect canvas for hand or machine stitching, printing, stamping, origami, quilting, jewellery, wearable art, book coverings, collage and on and on.  excerpt from: https://www.treenwaysilks.com/fusion.php
Love this medium.....Results of my workshop with Donna Crispin at the Paper Arts Festival in Newport, Oregon.   It was blast and oh boy....do I have ideas for these results!!!!

QUEEN OF THE GYPSIES

the vest

the make-over
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU CREATE SOMETHING AND IT BUGS YOU??? YOU DWELL ON IT FOR AWHILE AND THEN you recreate and get rid of the bug.....Queen of the Gypsies was born from a nuno felted vest that I did not like....the nuno felting I LOVED, the vest was another story....So....it got a make-over...and there is enough material left for a halo hat, another neck wrap and more....where will the muse take me????

Sparkle, embellish, felt scarf

White prefelt-silk-silk jewel encrusted panels (2)-sparkly mohair yarn coiled up on front-sparkly mohair yarn drizzled on front and back-all captured with white merino wool and felted

voila
for my taste the scarf was too wide so I did some stitching with gold thread to make the width smaller
jeweled panels

front and reverse comparison

In the first picture, what I see is that I am going to embellish on the mohair circles where I placed a cross bar of prefelt for interest.  The picture says the centers need to be embellished.  I always see better from a picture I take than from the actual creation.....

Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.......never a dull moment!!!!

NOW......It's finished.....

a fabulous art batt from Hanks in the Hood laid down on a chocolate brown prefelt from Outback Fibers and then wet felted....but.....not done yet....
Did I say, I am a mixed media artist???  Now lets spin the rest of the art batt and here it is.....
and then let's embellished the wet felted scarf with the newly created art yarn....
but.....wait....not done yet.  Let's take the rest of the art yarn and free-form crochet a band and attach a WILD flower scrap that was remnants from the beginning scarf.

Now.....I'm done with this creation and it gives me great joy.....Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.....

inspired by our recent trip to the Grand Canyon

Ashley Martineau  art batt spun up and plied with green novelty yarn

and then designed into a Dreadfully WILD Neck wrap/Necklace.....
and after the fact....it occurred to me that this was also inspired by the tail spinning done by Natalie of Namaste Farms

What do I want to be when I grow up???

Spent all day felting incredible yellow sequin and bugle bead encrusted silk fabric, then it just said strip up that pale golden-yellow silk material and punch holes in the felt and crochet the silk strips into the felted yellow sequin and bugle bead encrusted silk fabric. It's still talking and doesnt know what it wants to be when it grows up. I'm waiting to see
